FAQs about Proven Solar

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How much electricity do I use?
You can determine how much power you use by looking on your utility bill or by calling your utility company.  A Proven Energy Solutions consultant will be happy to take a look at your last years utility bills to help determine what size solar system you will need.
Does the utility company issue a check when I produce more power than I use?
No, on days when you produce more power than you use your utility company stores that electricity, then you may later draw on that credit for up to a year.
In the event of a black out what happens?
Unless a battery backup system is installed, your solar system will turn off.  Grid-tied solar systems come back on when the grid turns back on.  This shut down is required by law to protect you.
What happens on cloudy days or at night?
During cloudy days or at nightime you will continue to draw electricity from the grid.  On sunny days you build up credits and draw from these credits on cloudy days and at night.
Does a solar system have to go on my roof?
No, there are a few different ways we can provide your home or building with solar energy.  A roof top is generally the best location due to space requirements.  Groun mount systems are equally effective and can provide an alternative location.  The best way to determine a location is by having a Proven Energy Solutions professional discuss with you your concerns and view your site.
